Understanding the influence of High Temperature Coil Annealing operating parameters on the magnetic properties of grain oriented electrical steel

Application closing date 6 September 2013, employment start date 25 October 2013
COATED
Swansea University

The high temperature annealing cycle is a fundamental part of the process of the manufacture of grain oriented electrical steel, as it is where the purification and abnormal grain growth that charcterises these types of steels occurs.

This project will lead the researcher to a fundamental understanding of the metallurgical behaviour of the grain oriented electrical steel substrate in the high temperature anneal, and lead to an improved product.
